Story: Amélie Nothomb transports the reader to Japan in her autobiographical work, Stupeur et Tremblements. The novel describes her survival working in a Japanese business and the cultural differences she encounters as a white Belgian woman. One hour will be dedicated to the book discussion and the last 15 mins will be dedicated to socializing get getting to know each other. Please read the book prior to coming to the book club so that you can engage in interesting discussions with your fellow members. This is an excellent opportunity to practice your French in a small group setting. This workshop is recommended for intermediate/advanced speakers.
