LOCATION OF LESSONS Lessons and workshops are conducted either online or in our office at our Alexandria, VA location. For corporate clients, we can teach either online or at their location. Online lessons are done using the Zoom platform so you will need to have Zoom installed before starting your lesson.
LEVEL ASSESSMENT French with Elodie LLC is a boutique French school that is focused on communication in French to help you progress with your speaking abilities as well as your grammar knowledge. Because of this, we will set up a level assessment call to determine your level before we place you in a class. Through a casual conversation with our owner, we will determine what program and class is best suited for your current level.
METHODOLOGY French With Elodie LLC is very focused on a communicative approach, favoring conversation to improve your ability to speak in French while also focusing on your grammar. For all beginner and intermediate lessons, students will be asked to purchase a working book prior to starting the class. The book will be used to help students with the grammar basics with exercices that students will be asked to do in between lessons. French With Elodie LLC will provide the information for purchasing the book at the time of registration.
SCHEDULING We use an online booking system to schedule all lessons. Through this system, you will receive email and text reminders prior to your lessons. If you need to reschedule a lesson, we ask you to use the online system to do so. It's very easy and allows you to check the availability of your teacher.
TIME FOR LESSONS Please be on time for your lesson. We do realize that sometimes last minute conflicts happen and we ask that you please inform your teacher if you're going to be late. The teacher will wait for 10 minutes and then log off if you don't come to class. PAYMENT On the first of the month, you will receive an invoice for your membership package. Payment for the membership is requested upon receipt of the invoice, and no later than the fifth of the month. A 5% late fee applies for payments received after the fifth of the month. Accepted forms of payment include Venmo, Zelle, or checks. Checks must be received by the fifth of the month to avoid a late fee.
MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION BY STUDENT To cancel a membership, you must provide a 30-day written notice before the next billing date. Each invoicing cycle falls on the first of the month so if you would like to cancel your membership, we need to receive a written notification by email on the first of the month for a cancellation effective on the first of the following month. There are no cancellation fees associated to cancelling your membership. You also have the option to pause your membership for a month without any charges. After the month pause, we will resume your membership. We cannot guarantee that your regular time slot will be available however we will find a time that is agreeable for you and your teacher.
LESSON RESCHEDULING BY STUDENT Tuition fees, once paid, are non-refundable, unless in the event that French With ElodieLLC cancels a lesson (see cancellation by French With Elodie LLC). However, we understand that sometimes students will need to reschedule lessons. Below is the policy for private and group lessons rescheduling:
Private lessons: if you need to reschedule a lesson, we require at least 24 hr notice otherwise the class will be forfeited. You will be asked to login into the online scheduler to reschedule your lesson based on your teacher’s availability. You will be required to reschedule your lessons within the same month of your membership cycle so we will not offer roll-over of lessons. If rescheduling a lesson is not possible based on your unavailability, the class will be automatically forfeited. You may reschedule your lesson with your assigned teacher. If your assigned teacher is not available at all, please contact Elodie Guillon to find an alternative solution. Roll-over of lessons to the next month are not available.
Group lessons: Group lessons cannot be rescheduled. However, if you are unable to attend a group lesson, we require 24 hr notice otherwise the class will be forfeited. You will need to log into the online scheduler to reschedule your lesson either 1) in another group lesson of your level if available, 2) in the monthly make up lesson available to all students, 3) by upgrading to a private lesson with an extra fee of $30. If none of these options are available, the class will be forfeited. Group lessons are best for students who can commit to attending most of their lessons during the month. Roll-over of lessons to the next month are not available.
CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING BY FRENCH WITH ELODIE LLC French With Elodie LLC reserves the right to cancel lessons and workshops, adjust curriculum, and change teachers if necessary. In the event that an assigned teacher is not available, the teacher will contact the students and organize a “make up” date for the lesson. In case this is not possible, a substitute teacher will be provided unless there are no teachers available. In the event the class needs to be cancelled, students will receive a full refund. While we try to be consistent with the teachers in each class, we reserve the right to change teachers if necessary, with advance notice to the students.
